Communication Specification

Protocol independence and service description. Wire formats are not specified here.

This section is listed in the source as specifications and version history. Written protocol text has not been supplied.

What the architecture says

RTW is protocol independent. The service owner decides their own protocol.

Information about how data is structured lives on each micropage: a mini description of the service and its data model. Any service that wants to be linked should describe its schema. If that description is missing, other services have no serious basis for linking to it.

An implementation may use common Internet transports and more than one encoding. Format details, command tables, and default encodings belong with that implementation.

What is not written

  • A required schema language
  • A versioned protocol document
  • A discovery or name-resolution specification
See Interoperability for normalizer, materializer, and kernelizer, and Morphic services for the micropage.
